The Concept
Black Sails takes audiences on a pirate treasure hunt filled with adventure, mystery, and mischief. Voiceovers guide the journey through dark ocean waters, lively sea shanties, and a mysterious siren encounter, as the crew follows the map toward buried treasure.
Written for a small band, the show balances dramatic passages with lighter, playful moments. Familiar melodies including “Wellerman,” “Drunken Sailor,” and “The Sailor’s Hornpipe” give audiences plenty to recognize, while contrasting musical moods offer opportunities for expressive performance and visual storytelling.
