The Concept
Monolith explores the tension between individuality and an overwhelming, unyielding force. A powerful four-note idea returns throughout the show, creating a sense of weight, control, and inevitability as more expressive material pushes against it.
The concept remains intentionally abstract, allowing ensembles to shape their own visual interpretation. Staging, movement, color, and form can reinforce ideas of conformity, resistance, suppression, and individual expression without requiring one specific story.
