Stephen Downing Music

Shadows of New Orleans is a haunting and soulful journey into the mystique and magic of the Crescent City. Featuring iconic melodies like House of the Rising Sun, an electrifying swing arrangement of Danse Macabre, I Put a Spell on You, and the somber beauty of St. James Infirmary, the music captures the city's eerie charm and vibrant energy. Soloists on harmonica, bass clarinet, trumpet, clarinet, and trombone bring a personal, heartfelt quality to the performance, weaving their voices into the fabric of the story. This evocative show blends the rich musical traditions of New Orleans with an air of dark mystery.

This show was originally commissioned for the Fall 2024 marching band season.
